Letterpress printing workshop "Suvorov and Co"

building 4, floor 1

SUVOROV & CO

Our workshop is a small business that started in 2011 as a hobby with two small Adana printing presses. It was a bold and desperate undertaking, because it is hard manual labor, and machines with their rich past had many flaws and features that had to be restored, understood and mastered in the process.

Then, after a year of hard work, which we treat with great respect, because what comes easily costs nothing and is not appreciated. Already in 2012, we purchased our 116 year old masterpiece of American machine tool Chandler & Price 10 x 15 Old Style. We named it “Luck”, which means “Luck”, for it was indeed both fate and luck. Good luck finding such a machine intact, albeit in a very neglected state. And it was good luck for him to find a new life, a new meaning, a new purpose to bring joy to people, creating beautiful printed products. The press was restored and began its work in our workshop, delighting with its metallic sheen and measured tapping of steel parts.

Our mission

Our mission: to preserve the art of letterpress printing, on the territory of our country and in the world, to breathe new life into it with the help of modern technologies for making printing plates and preparing layouts. Carefully preserve the heritage of the era of mechanical machines, preserve the spirit of the beautiful romantic era, the late 19th - early 20th centuries. By your example, inspire people to take care of history and respect for manual production work, because in our age of virtual workers, everything made by hand is doubly valuable, and made with love for your work is even more valuable. Create beautiful prints using the finest materials, offer a high quality alternative to soulless commercial printing, and offer a unique service. Choosing us, you not only get a high-quality, unique result, but also maintain the beauty of the process.

Our Passion

Letterpress, or letterpress, is truly one of the most beautiful crafts, with an art form developed over the centuries that is more relevant today than ever. It hasn't changed much in the last 500+ years, since the time of Gutenberg. It was the main type of printed press printing, the craft of the Masters, incredibly complex in nuances. However, during the last century, with the rapid development of high-speed and automated offset printing machines, this knowledge and skill has been rapidly lost. In our Workshop, we daily come into contact with this Mastery, collect bit by bit and protect this knowledge of disappearance. Letterpress printing is hard physical work, it can be frustrating and create new challenges and goals every day, vintage equipment is sometimes whimsical but unfailingly reliable.
Combining ancient printing methods with modern typography, with a new vision of vintage illustrations, leaving prints on excellent grades of paper, we try to do the best, to provide you with a unique product that will forever remain in your heart. What we do, we do with sincere passion, and it is this passion and experience that allows us to advise you to choose our Workshop.

Our paper

Our works, whether they are business cards, wedding invitations or any other products, are printed on imported 100% cotton materials. They not only have an excellent appearance, but are also pleasant to the touch and environmentally friendly. They are best suited for letterpress printing due to their bulk and density. Cotton papers are also much more environmentally friendly, as they require much less water and electricity to produce than paper made from cellulose, which also destroys trees. We use papers of 300 and 600 grams per square meter, depending on the product and requirements.

About our business

We print the old fashioned way, on a 116 year old cast iron printing press. We use expensive and high-quality grades of pure cotton paper. Our products are filled with love and passion for our work, we never approach orders formally. We always try to meet the needs of the client. We save printed forms so that you can contact us again.
